Support ClariOS
I've been an avid writer for most of my life. I just like telling stories and putting together explainers. It's something I thoroughly enjoy.
On the other hand, I love technology. Not everything about it, but I do love its capacity for creating new experiences, fostering community, and enabling interactions.
My life's calling has always been marrying the two, combining well-designed interactivity with compelling storytelling. That's why I'm studying game development. That's why I write. That's why I love tinkering with my computer so much.
ClariOS is a natural extension of that: of telling a good story while teaching you something new, and allowing you to engage with different ways of using a computer. It's a bit of a pretentious goal, but I think it's worth doing.
While I don't plan on paywalling any of my content, it'd be tremendously helpful if the time and effort invested could provide some stability in my life. I'm working on paying off debt at the moment, and if you'd like to help me finish with that sooner, consider donating to my Ko-Fi.
Going beyond paying off my debts, however, the truth is that game development is an expensive career. Donating one time is awesome and thoroughly appreciated! If you enjoy my content a lot and want to make sure I am able to keep working on it, you can subscribe through Ko-Fi, too.
The ideal goal would be for Ko-Fi to provide enough income that I'm able to pay for college and keep a modest life while finishing my career. Don't worry! I live in Argentina, so it's not as bad as it sounds.
750 dollars a month. Yes, honestly. That would keep me pretty comfortable, and I could focus on writing while advancing my career.
I'm not dumb: I know that's a significant amount of money to receive from donations. But it's still a far cry from the money needed to keep a modest life in the United States or Europe, as far as I know.
Alright, that's great, but what is in it for you if you donate? Thanks for asking! I'll give you two things. The tiers and a list of future articles.
Tiers of Subscription
Enthusiast ($8 per month)
Firstly, I'd like to make this clear: I would've loved to make a $1 or $5 subscription, but PayPal and payment processor fees turn $5 donations into $1.24 for dumb Argentina reasons.
Each time I choose a new theme for ClariOS (like Window Managers or art software), I go around asking for any doubts people might have. I try to answer everything, but it isn't always possible.
If you become an Enthusiast, all your questions and doubts will be prioritized, and I'll make sure to answer them in the article to the best of my ability.
Supporter ($14 a month)
You get everything on the Enthusiast tier, and also get to vote on the theme one of the articles covers every month.
Currently, I'm planning on doing two articles a month, so one would be decided by me and the other one by the Supporters. This way, you can ensure whatever you'd want to know is covered!
Enabler ($25 a month)
You get to pick the theme of an article. If too many people pick this tier, you'll damn me. But I'll try to get to everyone.
I reserve the right to ask you for a different theme if I'm not comfortable with what you chose.
List of Future Articles
Currently, I can't really guarantee a number of articles per month, but I'm aiming at two per month. If I get to a stable enough situation, I can increase the output to at least three. Some of the themes I'm planning on covering are:
